When the world becomes a little quieter, the first snow falls and the scent of cinnamon and cloves fills the air, then the magical winter and Christmas season has arrived. The Queenz of Piano celebrate it in all its facets and emotions. They take their audience on a journey through the winter wonderland between tradition and modernity, between pop and classical music, between contemplation and merriment.
Jennifer Rüth and Pauline Gropp perform Christmas carols and winter songs from all over the world. Tchaikovsky's Sugar Plum Fairy catches dancing flakes in the bright, glittering morning sun. In the American Christmas classic ‘Carol of the bells’, the fingers whirl over the keys like a snowstorm. Christmas hits such as ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Last Christmas’ appear in a completely new guise and sound like a melancholy dream on a starry winter's night. Classics such as ‘Drummer Boy’ and ‘Silent Night’ warm the hearts of listeners like a crackling fireplace. With songs from distant lands, the Queenz of Piano wander along newly discovered winter paths, while their own compositions ‘December Song’ and ‘Reminiszenz’ give the evening a very personal touch. The two piano virtuosos charmingly sweeten the cold season on their (angelic) wings.
